Maggie Murdoch

Wellington Pottery, Wellington OntarioMaggie's fanciful  botanical work in inspired by the natural world of growth and change. This work invokes your imagination and conjures up the floor of forests and oceans and even deserts. They are fanciful, not meant to represent any particular flora or fauna or for any particular use, but for imagination's sake. The pieces are made in a combination of methods, wheel thrown, slab, coil and carving. There are many glazes used in combination and several methods of application; dipping, pouring, spraying, brush and syringe.

"My 35 years experience has brought me to this body of work that feels like it is just flowing"

David Drown

Wellington Pottery, Wellington OntarioThe extruded pieces are clean and simple in design and each is altered as it emerges from the die to attain a asymmetery. The Eastern Series is inspired by Chinese and Japanese influences. Hand-made and designed as a stand- alone or add on set, it's simple lines are pleasing to the eye and a pleasure to use.

''Of all my many designs my Leaf Press dishes are still one of my favorites to make, using nature to help me create a piece is a pure joy. I think of them as man-made fossiles."
